The hackathon is part of the celebration of the 2024 Global Clinical Engineering Weeks
Participation Guidelines
Hackathon Rules and Regulations
Objective: To develop innovative solutions addressing specific clinical engineering challenges through collaboration, creativity, and technical skills.
All participants must register online by September 17, 2024. Teams can consist of two to six members and participants must be at least 18 years old.
Duration:
- The hackathon will take place over a continuous 48-hour period.
- Teams must submit their final solutions by the specified deadline.
Solution Requirements:
- Solutions must address one of the specified challenges.
- The solution will be presented in a free style document that must contain
- Problem exposition
- Proposed solution
- Explanation of the originality of the proposed solution
- Impact on the Clinical Engineering field
- Diagrams, tables, code, and other support material
- Analysis of feasibility
- References
- The document must have 10 to 12 pages at most
- Each solution should include a prototype, concept, or working model accompanied by a presentation (max 5 minutes).
Tools: Indicate if the computational tools used in the project are open-source software or licensed software. Likewise, indicate all the technical and technological sources used to develop the project.
Judging Criteria:
- Innovation: Originality and creativity of the solution.
- Feasibility: Practicality and potential for real-world application.
- Impact: Potential to improve clinical engineering practices and patient outcomes.
- Presentation: Clarity and effectiveness of the final presentation.
- Transferability: Ability to apply findings, interventions, or technologies developed in one context or setting to another.
Prohibited Activities:
- Plagiarism or use of copyrighted materials without permission.
- Use of harmful or unethical practices in developing solutions.
- Disruptive behavior that affects other participants.
Intellectual Property:
- Participants retain ownership of their solutions; however, organizers may request permission to showcase projects for promotional purposes.
Prizes:
- Prizes will be awarded to the top solutions based on judging criteria.
- Additional awards may be given for special categories (e.g., Best Presentation, Most Feasible Solution).
Code of Conduct:
- Participants are expected to treat each other with respect and professionalism.
- Any form of harassment or discrimination will not be tolerated.
