Description
The International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering (IFMBE-CED) is a group that is tasked with coordinating healthcare technology management efforts globally across the World Health Organization (WHO)’s 6 regions. IFMBE-CED is the main organization working with the WHO’s focal point for medical devices and the WHO medical device unit.
IFMBE-CED is seeking Health Technology Research and Administration Volunteer Interns starting May 2022. This dynamic position will provide the selected applicant(s) the opportunity to be involved in a number of high-priority projects that add to the international body of knowledge and professional development of clinical engineering, biomedical engineering, public health, and allied health professionals.
Voluntary Basis: There is no financial compensation of any form, but training and recognition of contributions will be provided.
Timeframe: 10-12 weeks (per program).
Estimated Weekly Hours: 24-36 (May need to be flexible with different time zones for evening meetings, but most will be during normal EST business hours).

What will I do?
Provide health administration and health technology consulting and project support for:
- · IFMBE-CED projects including staffing models for technology professionals and benchmarking key performance indicators.
- · Current events related projects (COVID etc.)
- · COVID-19 readiness and ongoing support projects between IFMBE-CED, WHO, and WHO Regions (Including partner participation in the WHO Every Breath Counts Campaign).
- · Collection and dissemination of best practices related to health technology, COVID-19 and non-COVID facing.
- · Other duties as assigned by the IFMBE-CED board.
Project Management for International Mentorship Program
- · Day-to-day administration support for diverse array of mentors and mentees across the globe.
- · Innovatively create, edit, and improve program content in our robust Learning Management System.
- · Schedule, moderate, and facilitate mentorship program workshops.
- · Lead onboarding training for mentors and mentees.

Preferred Attributes
- • This position will be perfect for a self-starter who can independently learn and take tasks.
- • An interest in public health or international health.
- • An interest in medical devices and health information systems as an enabler of health outcomes.
- • Proficient speaking, writing and editing skills in English. Ability to perform independent online information research using professional, scientific, and publication databases.
- • Proficient in using Excel and PowerPoint.
- • Multi-lingual (Spanish, French) would be helpful, but not required (meetings in English, translation provided when needed).
Candidate Eligibility
Students currently enrolled in a Bachelor level program or higher (MS, PhD) for Biomedical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or other related allied health majors (health administration, patent law etc.). Graduate-level students preferred.
The candidates must also have a fluent level understanding of English, both spoken and written.
